Kenosha Police involved in rollover crash

The rollover crash occurred around 1:15 PM on Sunday, March 21st.

An officer with the Kenosha Police Department was stopped at a red light for eastbound traffic on 52nd Street at 22nd Avenue in Kenosha with a person in custody. The offending vehicle was traveling south on 22nd Avenue, ran a red light and struck the squad on the driver’s side.

The squad rolled over after being struck.

The officer and passenger had to be extricated from the squad and were transported to the hospital to be checked out. Both have since been released. The offending driver stopped after the crash and was not believed to be impaired.

He was issued a citation for failing to stop for the red light.

Wisconsin State Patrol conducted the investigation.
