Officers from the Kenosha Police Department responded to the 2800 block of 40th Street at 5:11 PM on Sunday, August 23rd for a domestic incident. An officer shot an armed man, later identified as Jacob Blake, as he disobeyed orders to stop. Officers provided immediate aid to Blake. He was transported via Flight for Life medical helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency, other than Kenosha Police. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation will be investigating this officer-involved shooting.
